Asian Gelato Cup

The Asian Gelato Cup opens for registrations once again at FHA-HoReCa 2024. Taking place between 23-24 October 2024, this biennial competition serves as the Asian qualifier for the renowned Gelato World Cup held in Italy.

Regional pastry, gelato and dessert professionals will converge in Singapore to compete for the top three positions for an opportunity to represent the region in the Gelato World Cup. The competition aims to provide a competitive environment that encourages gelato, pastry, and dessert professionals to hone their craft, while simultaneously showcasing their creativity and innovations in gelato crafting.

Rules & Regulations

This is a team-based competition, consisting of the following:
• 1 x Team Manager
• 2 x Team Members

Team Members must be citizens or permanent residents of the nation/territory participating in the competition.

Participating teams must come from the following geographical areas:
• Asia (excluding countries and regions from Greater China),
• Pacific Regions (Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea)
• Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regions (Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Georgia, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, etc.)

*Competition teams may be formed without official national selection but they will need to organise a presentation in their country/city so that the team can represent their respective nation/region autonomously.

The three highest-ranking teams of the Asian Gelato Cup 2024 will be selected to participate in the Gelato World Cup 2026 in Rimini, Italy.

Registration opens on 10 June 2024.

Each team will consist of:
• 1 x Team Manager
• 2 x Team Members

Applications that do not meet this requirement will be rejected.

Your team will be judged on the following items:
• Gelato Making
• Plated Dessert
• Gelato Cake
• Entrée with Gourmet Gelato
• Artistic Showpiece
• Final Grand Buffet

All participating teams have two (2) hours to set up their kitchen one (1) day before the scheduled competition date.

7:00 AMTeams arrive at the competition venue, enter their kitchens and report to the kitchen manager.
7:30 AMKitchen inspection conducted by the competition judges.
7:45 AMCompetition begins.
11:00 AMPlated Dessert tasting commences. Teams to showcase their creations one after another in five (5)-minute intervals.
12:00 PMGelato Making tasting commences. Teams to showcase their creations one after another in five (5)-minute intervals.
1:00 PMGourmet Gelato tasting commences. Teams to showcase their creations one after another in five (5)-minute intervals.
2:00 PMGelato Cake tasting commences. Teams to showcase their creations one after another in five (5)-minute intervals.
3:15 PMTeams to start setting up the Final Grand Buffet. Ingredients and composition of all dishes will be announced to the public.
3:45 PMTeams to finish setting up their centerpiece and all creations at the display table. Judging starts. Five (5) penalty points will be deducted from the total score for every minute delayed during the Final Grand Buffet setup after 3:45 PM.
4:15 PMTeams to clean their kitchens.
4:45 PMKitchen inspection conducted by the competition judges.

Standard uniforms (chef jackets/tops) will be provided for three (3) members of each team. Standard chef hats or competition-sponsored hats must be worn.

Safety-style, non-slip footwear must be worn. Sports shoes are not allowed in the kitchen.

Singapore uses a standard voltage of 220-240V and plug types G and C.

13 A power will be provided in each competition kitchen.

Please ensure you bring the adapters required for your equipment.

Once your participation has been confirmed by the organiser, we will provide the following:

• Economy airfare of up to SGD 500 per team member and full economy airfare for the team manager. The reimbursement of the airfare will be based on the actual airfare incurred with the provision of original receipts/invoices.

• Accommodation for two (2) team members and one (1) team manager, consisting of one (1) twin-sharing room and one (1) single room for each team for up to a total of four (4) room nights.
